Advanced Hearing WA donates hearing aids to third world countries to people who are not able to afford the technology but are in desperate need for it.
The clinics owner and audiologist Eimear O'Brien said hearing loss affected one in six Australians and in third world countries the rate of hearing loss was even greater.
In the lead up to Hearing Awareness Week, running from August 24 to 30, the clinic are encouraging the community to donate their old hearing aids for the cause.
“Hearing aids are like glasses, people tend to keep them in a draw unused. We are able to reuse them,” she said.
Mrs O'Brien said the hearing aids would be refurbished at the clinic then donated to Ears Inc who distributes them.
If you have a hearing aid you no longer use, donate it to Advanced Hearing WA located at 102A Queen Street or phone on 9751 1899.
