Caring for Reptiles handler Jess Berry has organised the one day course after she received a significant rise in phone calls from nervous residents who had found reptiles on their properties.
Ms Berry said the course would help people overcome the psychology of fear and teach people the correct catching techniques.
“It’s all about ensuring the safety of the person and snake,” Ms Berry said.
“We also go over legal responsibilities and first aid treatment in case a someone comes across a venomous bite.”
The course will be presented by Snake Rescue and Relocation trainer Bob Cooper from Snake R&R Training.
Mr Cooper will provide live reptiles to handle including local venomous species.
On completion of the course students will receive a certificate recognised by the Department of Parks and Wildlife as a qualification for a snake or reptile removalist.
