When 16-year-old Alexia Brown requested Hamish and Andy attend her year 10 formal, she didn’t expect to get a “yes” back.
But on air Monday afternoon, the radio personalities announced Catholic College Wodonga would be the first stop in their band’s tour.
“I had a thought it might happen but knowing my luck, it wouldn’t,” she said. “I’m just really excited.”
Teacher Aaron West was the first to get the news on Monday afternoon - live, on-air across the country.
“I got a phone call saying there’s four events – you’re one of the four and we’ll ring all four of you,” he said.
“They chose one while they were doing the show and put it through to us.
“It was hilarious because I had a class full of kids and said, ‘Wait until I give the thumbs up to lose the plot’.”
Mr West said excitement was already building for their appearance at the formal on Monday, November 28.
“It was pretty cool when we had Subzero the horse on Friday – that was the most famous animal visitor we’ve had,” he said.
“These will probably be the most famous humans.”
