THE Salvos Toy Ride is the biggest fundraiser for the Busselton Salvation Army involving hundreds of motorcyclists raising thousands of dollars for the annual Christmas Appeal.
This year riders will make their way from Augusta to Busselton stopping in Margaret River and Dunsborough on Sunday, December 11.
The Lions Club are also involved organising a big breakfast for the riders in Augusta from 7am at the Centennial Hall, then will greet them again at Port Geographe Marina for a sausage sizzle lunch.
Along the way, riders collect donations, gift certificates, merchandise, cash, non-perishable food items and toys, as well as sell raffle tickets to raise much needed funds for the Salvos Christmas Appeal.
The Salvos Toy Ride organiser Colin Spark said this year they were looking for donations from businesses in the region which could be used for prizes in the raffles to ensure the event was a success.
Last year the toy ride raised over $3000, Busselton Salvation Army captain Jason Dannock said the donations from the ride are given to families in need from Augusta to Busselton,
“Donations are distributed by different churches and welfare agencies in the region to families in need at Christmas,” he said.
If your business can contribute donations which could be used in the raffle please contact Colin or Kathy Spark on 0409 507 101 or email toyridebusselton@bigpond.com.
