The Nannup Music Festival returns this long weekend transforming the streets of the small country town into an event-fuelled fiesta.
From Friday the festival will feature live music, art, stalls with producers from the region and is supported by regional arts funding through Royalties for Regions.
Festival Director Phaedra Watts said regional arts funding had enabled the Nannup Music Festival to continually support and showcase new emerging artists and bring strong Aboriginal acts to the South West.
“The festival brings so many people into Nannup – people that would not ordinarily come here,” she said.
“It also creates opportunities for the local community to be more inclusive and injects important visitor dollars into the economy.”
Ms Watts said the festival had developed a strong following, with many visitors returning each year, and a growing reputation for its line-up of emerging artists, particularly Aboriginal performers.
“As the festival has grown over the years we have seen a real transition in audience focus from the expected headline acts to the new,” she said.
In 2016 the three-day festival attracted an audience of 12,000, delivering a significant boost to the local economy.
