City of Busselton mayor Grant Henley said the council felt that CCTV would assist with the management of opportunistic crimes and general antisocial behaviour on the foreshore.
Mr Henley said there were also opportunities to live stream action at the skate park so people in the community could see, in real time, what was happening in the youth activities precinct area.
“We hope to have the installation completed within the next six to eight weeks,” he said.
“The CCTV will be installed to help create a safer and more inclusive environment for all users.”
This City of Busselton missed out on state government funding which provided $5 million to councils across WA to install CCTV cameras.
In 2015, a council spokesperson said the city applied for the grant to help fund installation of CCTV across the youth precinct on the Busselton foreshore.
