For this group of Busselton women, the chance to make new friends and get out into the community was made a whole lot easier through the Springboard Your Life program.
The woman all joined the program to “get out of their house and meet new people,” with some of them saying it had been challenging for them because they were shy or did not have the confidence to join social clubs.
The six-week program has a number of different elements to get the women exercising, having fun and to hear from guest speakers on everything from nutrition to setting life-goals.
The program has proved to be so successful the women, who all did the course at different times, now meet up once a week at the community gardens and have started a walking group.
All the women said the program had given them confidence to mix with other people socially and some had taken up new activities such as yoga.
Robyn Sheridan said she was now more active and spent more time in the fresh air since she had done the program and had also joined a few art groups.
“I am meeting lots of new people, it gave me confidence to go out and join other groups on my own, once you have been in one and everyone is so friendly, it makes it easier to go to the next one,” she said.
The next course will start from 10.30am on Thursday, May 18 at the CWA Hall in Busselton, assessments are required before people can take the course which will be held at Lamp from 9am on Wednesday, May 10.
