On June 30 last year, Dunsborough resident Tracey Trew suffered a stoke and it did not look like she was going to survive her injuries.
Ms Trew has been living in a slow stream rehabilitation facility in Perth for the last year and her children Jake and Emily King are desperate to bring her home.
Ms Trew was left immoblised after her stroke and has been learning to stand again, but needs special equipment and a wheelchair friendly house to accommodate her needs.
Their aunt Jenny setup a Go Fund Me page, Support Tracey Trew, to help Ms Trew’s children raise money for an adequate home and equipment.
Ms King said since her mum suffered the stroke they had lots of people contact them who wanted to help but they were not ready.
She said her mum lived in Dunsborough for the last 24 years and had worked as a volunteer ambulance officer and in mental health.
As a result of the stroke Ms Trew could potentially be left with life-long disabilities and would need assistance to get her in and out of bed.
“We are trying to raise money for these things,” she said. “Her house is not suitable and we are looking for something that would be wheelchair friendly.”
“Mum is verbal, aware and has memories, the main issue is she cannot walk anymore,” she said.
