Matt Gresham is “super excited” to be hitting the Dunsborough Tavern this Friday night for the first show on his South West tour.
Gresham will be playing a run of acoustic shows while he is back in WA for a few weeks after playing electric-style gigs across Europe.
“I am stoked to be playing these new songs in such a beautiful place – I play in cities all the time - it’s nice to bring it back to grassroots and share some stories,” he said.
Gresham has been living in Berlin for the last two years and had the chance to work with James Arthur and Westlife, which he said had been a crazy experience.
“I have seen so much in a short amount of time, I have done 150 shows this yea, coming from such a little town [Rockingham] and playing in front of 10,000 people was a big difference in lifestyle.”
Before playing in front of such large crowds in Europe, the last show Gresham had performed was at the Indi Bar in Scarborough.
“There were 200 people, then we jumped on a plane and the first show was in London with 7000 people - while I was only the support act it was still a big deal - I really wanted to try my hardest to put on a good show for the main act.
“It was weird, when the crowd grows to that size you really have to rehearse, in my younger years I really used to wing it, now it’s showed me how much work you need to put in behind the scenes.”
