Mixed emotions fill Yelverton’s Gaunt household today as the 2018 school year begins.
Today, their youngest member, Harrison, 4, will put on a uniform, fasten his velcro blue joggers and begin kindergarten.
Harrison will join his big brother Oliver at Vasse Primary School, the same school their father attended as a child.
Readers of the Mail may remember the family making front page news in July 2013 when young parents Kym and Luke delivered Harrison at home.
Mum Kym said it was an emotional moment to see her youngest begin his education.
“I am a little sad that my baby is starting school but I’m obviously really excited for him,” she said.
Harrison said he was ready to start school and looked forward to digging in the playground sandpit.
Oliver, 6, said after summer holidays filled with family outings to the skate park and the beach, he was eager to get back to school and start Year 2.
He said he would show his younger brother the ropes at school.
“I’ll show him where to put his bag, teach him to put his hand up if he wants to talk and I’m going to be his school bus buddy,” he said.
