Finding love can be hard, but not if you have a library card says City of Busselton community engagement librarian Penny Crowley.
The team at Busselton and Dunsborough libraries will play cupid today for Library Lovers’ Day.
Conveniently falling on the same day as Valentine’s Day, the library celebrations will give readers a chance to write the library a love letter, get help finding their perfect book with a new personalised matchmaker service or have a ‘Blind Date with a Book’.
Readers are dared to venture outside their comfort zone by taking home a mystery book wrapped in brown paper, with only the first line of the novel given as a clue.
For those who feel more comfortable in the online dating world, the library has created an online questionnaire to help the book and reader come together.
Librarians will act as matchmakers and analyse the dating data to find the perfect pairing.
Ms Crowley encouraged the community to reconnect with reading and rekindle their love affair with books.
“People can often become stuck in rut by reading the same genre or having a favourite author,” she said.
“Blind Date with a Book is a lucky dip, come down, take a chance and maybe you’ll fall in love with a book.”
