Work is underway to build the new Busselton Tennis Centre at Barnard Park which will include 15 grass courts and 12 plexipave court surfaces.

The project is a joint effort between the City of Busselton, Busselton Tennis Club, Tennis West, Tennis Australia to relocate the club by October 31, next year.

Busselton Tennis Club president Barry House said they expected to have good grass coverage on the courts before the onset of winter

Mr House said they expected tenders to be invited soon to build the new clubhouse.

“The new tennis centre will be one of the best regional centres in Australia when completed.

“It will serve the tennis club members, juniors and community well into the future, as well as, attracting significant visitors and tennis tournaments to the region.

“It will be a great community asset.”

Earthworks began last week on the grass court construction with Busselton contractor Leeuwin Civil levelling, compacting and building a correct soil profile for grass to be planted in March.
