The team at Jetts Busselton are getting behind blood donation and will again run the Jetts Blood Challenge.
The success of the 2017 inaugural event, resulted in Jetts Fitness being named the winner of the Blood Service WA Plasma Growth Awards.
The state-wide challenge resulted in 203 plasma donations out of the 384 donations from Jetts members, staff, family and friends across its WA gyms.
Jetts WA director John Rock said the challenge came about as his team wanted to use their expansive network to save lives.
“The enthusiasm of everyone involved completely exceeded my expectations,” he said.
“We even had leader boards set up in each gym to keep track of which particular gym had achieved the highest number of donations.”
Blood Service community relations manager Yvonne Stickland said the donations from Jetts helped save the lives of hundreds of people.
“Close to 86,000 lives were saved last year thanks to the blood donations of employees and volunteers from over 970 WA organisations and community groups,” she said.
According to the Blood Service, WA businesses donated more than 13,000 litres of blood in 2017, equating to 21 per cent of all donations.
Ms Strickland said the Blood Service hoped more businesses would follow in Jetts’ footsteps and that figure would increase.
“Our goal is to reach 25 per cent of blood donations in Western Australia coming from businesses and community groups as that will make such a huge difference,” she said.
