A puzzling case of theft put a dampener on the final night of the LiveLighter Busselton Fringe festivities and has left organisers scratching their heads in disbelief.
On Saturday, March 3, at approximately 8.30pm a man entered the Fringe Central area and stole four giant chess pieces, before fleeing to a getaway car.
Venue manager Gabrielle Whirledge said it was a disappointing end to the festival.
“The four pieces that have been taken are the white King and Queen, and the black King and Queen, so it seems pretty targetted,” she said.
“The game belongs to the City of Busselton so therefore it belongs to the community. We are just hoping that they do the right thing and return them.”
