A new co-working space has opened in the heart of Dunsborough to combat the isolation felt by many small business owners.
Sara and Andrew Adams moved to the region in 2017 and saw a gap in the market for a place where small business owners, sole traders, remote working professionals and freelancers could become pseudo colleagues and network through the use of a co-working space.
They created Work Life shared space on Dunn Bay Road and the location is already providing office space for a number of Dunsborough residents.
Ms Adams said Dunsborough was a town with a thriving small business community that would benefit from having a space to get together.
“Our aim is to bring the small business community and one-man band operators together in Dunsborough, reducing the loneliness that comes with working on your own, and inspiring new networks and collaborations,” she said.
“Co-working spaces are the way of the future, especially in regional areas.
“You can bounce ideas off each other and it has that social aspect as well.”
Dunsborough residents Simona Hughes and Shanai Williams both use the space.
Ms Hughes, who has an office for her business Financial Utilities in Perth, said the concept was great.
“They say you are influenced by the five people you are around most so to work somewhere around like-minded people helps you grow and motivates you,” she said.
Ms Williams runs her own food blog, Kids Eat by Shanai.
She said having an office space to use gave her structure.
“When I was working from home, I was having a lot of late nights doing work as that was the only time I could,” she said.
“If I do an eight hour day here, it is actually eight hours of work compared to eight hours at home which is interrupted by running a household.
“It means I can be more present at home, and at work.”
