The vast history of Busselton Senior High School will be celebrated when the school hosts its 60th birthday celebrations next month.
Past and current students, staff and parents will be welcomed to the school campus on August 11 for the event.
An exhibition of memorabilia will be on display in the Performing Arts Centre and school tours will be offered.
A morning tea will be held for those in attendance.
The celebrations will culminate with a semi-formal event in the evening in the school gym.
Busselton Senior High School principal Dainon Couzic said the event would be a chance to reminisce and re-ignite friendships that had spanned the decades.
“This is an important milestone for the school to celebrate,” he said.
“Busselton Senior High School has seen a lot of changes over its 60 years, with students initially receiving their curriculum from a few tiny classrooms to today serving over 650 students.
“The contributions of the wider Busselton Senior High School community have seen positive changes for students across the years and this is something worth celebrating.”
Busselton Senior High School was established in 1958. The school’s land once belong to pioneer couple Carlo and Flora Sayers, who both wished for their land to be used for an education institution.
Upon their passing, the land was transferred to the Education Department and it went on to become Busselton’s first public high school.
The school will be open on Saturday, August 11, from 10am to 1pm. For tickets to the evening event, visit trybooking.com/VBJO.
