Plans for a foreshore cafe in Dunsborough can move forward after City of Busselton councillors gave their unanimous support at last week’s council meeting.
The decision will allow the developer, the Margaret River Hospitality Group, which owns and operates the White Elephant at Gnarabup, to move forward with the project.
During the meeting, several residents raised concerns about vegetation and noise, with support for the development shown from the Dunsborough Yallingup Chamber of Commerce and Industries.
Under the approval conditions the developer will be granted a lease for 30 years, may open from 7am to 8pm with no more than 24 after hours business type events.
The cafe will be banned from hosting 21st or 18th birthdays or weddings.
It was noted during the council meeting that the cafe would most likely open from 7am to 3pm and would be BYO, similar to the Margaret River Hospitality Group’s Gnarabup cafe.
