A Busselton bakery has established itself as one of the best in the state after taking out several medals at the Perth Royal Bread and Pastry Awards.
Busselton Central Bakery, which will soon be known as Baked Busselton, was purchased by Chris and Candice Barton in March.
The bakery will undergo renovations and the fresh new name will symbolism the new faces and ownership.
Baker Mr Barton, who is also a qualified pastry chef, said it was huge moment for the team and praised fellow baker Maurice Shinnick.
“We have big plans so it is good to know we are on the right track and producing good stuff for our customers so early in our new chapter as Baked Busselton,” he said.
“Entering a competition is something we are new to and it is great to see what everyone else is doing and rank yourself.”
The awards are WA’s premier industry competition and entries are judged on a variety of factors including volume, general appearance, texture, aroma, colour and taste.
Baked Busselton won gold for its Scottish shortbread and Devon wholemeal loaf, silver for its vanilla slice, round wholemeal cob, multigrain round rolls, and bronze for its Devon white loaf, ciabatta rolls and sourdough.
It also took out bronze in the artisan category, alongside Busselton bakery, Rise&Co which received silver.
Rise&Co was also awarded bronze for its carrot cake.
