It was a lean week when it comes to winners, but most of the Busselton horses performed really well and some were just plain unlucky.
Friday night would provide some of the best and unlucky performances of the week.
Fanci A Dance looks set for a great season again when he put in a superb effort from barrier 6 when runner-up in the first.
The Barry Howlett gelding settled just worse than midfield in running before making a move three wide before the bell.
He continued three wide without cover and would only be defeated half a length in the finish.
Old timers Deadlock Rockstar and Captain Proud, also out in the Busselton visitors draw of six, would both settle four back the fence in running.
Ash Markhams Rock Star at cricket score odds of $91 would weave a passage late in running to finish a close up fourth.
Less than a length away, Kym Neal's Captain Proud wasn't so lucky.
He went to the line with the ear plugs in and bolting, but couldn't get through the wall of horses and would finish eighth; only a length off third.
Hello Hotshot would perform admirably when sixth in the 3yo Fillies Oaks Prelude.
Like many of her Busselton counterparts, she too would have barrier 6 and was sent forward early to the breeze where she would gain a trail and hold on strong to finish not far behind them.
Two locals would head to Narrogin Saturday night.
Ark, trained by Sheldon Cook would start $5 equal favourite and after leading early would be run over late to finish a close up fourth.
Catastrophic Event, starting from barrier 10 had to do a lot of work from that barrier.
But three wide at the bell ran on strongly to also finish fourth for trainer Colin Reeves.
Barry Howletts Star of Diamonds a progressive type didn't have a great draw and would finish fifth.
Ash Markham's Call Me Ernie has done well since joining the stable and performed accordingly when running third.
His stablemate Nitro Lad finished a creditable fifth in the Easter Cup.
