Geographe Education Support Centre students have been rapping along to the Gruffalo this term to help develop their reading and vocabulary skills.
The students took to the much loved children's book, written by Julia Donaldson, by introducing a rap version which immediately engaged students.
They have explored the characters in the story, found rhyming words, used describing words, drew story maps and, most importantly, made Gruffalo crumble with owl ice cream.
Geographe Education Support Centre teacher Alison Kerimofski said eating the ice cream was a marvelous way to end a marvelous story.
"Such reading opportunities enable students to build greater vocabularies, develop story retell skills, utilise their phonological knowledge to sound out new words and build their confidence as early readers," she said.
"Finding stories that are engaging and fun is a marvellous way to engage students in the joy of reading and as the students found out nothing beats inviting a Gruffalo in to help," she said.
