Ms Baigent was named the WA Vocational Student of the Year 2019 at the WA Training Awards, the state's premier awards program for recognising high achievers in the vocational education and training sector.
She will be in Brisbane this week taking part in development workshops and social activities with other nominees from around the country.
"There will be lots of team bonding, then we sit for our interviews on the Tuesday before another big awards night," she said.
"I did not think I would go so far from doing one vocational training course, but I am really excited that I will be going over with the WA team.
"I never thought I would be representing WA at a national awards for vocational training when I think back to two years ago."
Ms Baigent previously worked as a horticulturist for 10 years before she took on a career change in an area where she could encourage others. Drawn to the community services industry, she applied to do a Certificate IV in Youth Work.
"I never thought I would have the success I have achieved or it would have created the opportunities I've had, it has been really good," she said.
