Busselton resident Vicki Newell is all set to pack her bags and embark on an A320 as the first flight from Busselton to Melbourne prepares for take off.
Ms Newell was the winner of a competition run by the City of Busselton to win return flights to Victoria's capital and will be one of 186 passengers on board.
It will be the first time Ms Newell has visited the state where she plans on taking in some musical theatre, comedy shows, shopping and a road trip down the Great Ocean Road.
"I am really excited and surprised, I have never won anything before in my life," she said.
City of Busselton mayor Grant Henley said discussions were currently taking place with Jetstar to ensure the Busselton Margaret River Airport was ready to receive the first passengers who arrive from Melbourne.
"It is getting real now," he said.
"Discussions are taking place today around those operational and capability issues to make sure we are ready to accommodate that first flight.
"Interestingly, the [coronavirus] situation in China means that we won't have some of the equipment that we had anticipated.
"We will certainly have a contingency plan to make sure we can work around and accommodate everyone on those initial flights."
