The City of Busselton Council will be asked to vote on a 10-year sports strategy which will provide direction for the development of the region's sport facilities.
It is anticipated $37 million will be allocated to sport and recreation projects in the next decade with a number of community-desired projects being pushed back.
On the cards is a new new Dunsborough Lakes Sports Park with infrastructure for soccer, cricket and court sports.
The grounds at the Dunsborough Playing Fields will be reconfigured to accommodate a home base for Aussie Rules Football
The city will investigate relocating the Dunsborough Library so the Naturaliste Community Centre can cater for more sports such as a gym, fitness classes and a future pool.
Sports field lighting, change rooms and a pavilion or community space has been earmarked for the Vasse Playing Fields.
The Geographe Leisure Centre's indoor pool will be redeveloped to create a dedicated pool to cater for swimming lessons, hydrotherapy, and a dedicated lap pool.
The city plan to increase the number of indoor courts at the GLC or the Dunsborough Lakes Sports Park.
They are also looking at undertaking concept planning with the West Coast Eagles for a sports talent hub at Bovell Sports Park.
The city will look at developing squash facilities at the Busselton Golf Club.
Projects that missed out will continue to be monitored by the city but were not considered viable under the current population and projected growth figures.
Excluded from the strategy were a 50 metre pool, an aquatic facility in Dunsborough, land purchases for sport spaces in Ambergate and Bovell.
Vasse MLA Libby Mettam said it was clear that the 25m pools in Busselton did not meet the current demand for swimming in this region.
"I have met with various individuals and sporting groups about the need to upgrade the community sporting infrastructure, including swimming and basketball, which is clearly in high demand," she said.
"Given such facilities are effectively owned and managed by the local government, it is the decision of the City of Busselton to prioritise such facilities.
"I will continue to advocate for sport and recreational funding given junior sport in particular, continues to be a priority activity in the region."
Council will vote on the 10-year sports and recreation strategy at Wednesday's meeting.
