Not letting a pandemic get in the way of a great event, the organisers of the Capel Makers Trail have decided to go virtual this year.

The Capel Makers Trail brings artists, makers, and the community together normally giving the public a rare opportunity to visit artists and makers up close and personal in their home studios.

The event was held for the first time last year throughout the Shire of Capel, generating a lot of interest from artists and the community alike.

Event coordinator Tracie Walsh said the virtual trail would include live workshops from the home studios of artists and makers which can be viewed online over the weekend from May 23 to 24.

"After hearing the disappointment from many of the artists and makers involved, the Capel Makers Trail committee decided they needed to go ahead with the momentum and expectations of this year's event and keep the Capel Makers Trail alive," she said.

"Each artist and maker will be interviewed on social media to share their craft and talk about what they are doing during these times," she said.

Artist Helen Seiver participated in the event last year and said many visitors who went to her studio, including her neighbours, were surprised and delighted at what they found at her garden and studio.
