The Magpies league team took on the Hawks in Margaret River for their first game of the 2020 season.
The Magpies started the game with an intensity they held for a solid four quarters.
The opening term showcased the quick movement and precision of the great Millman working seamlessly with Webb in goals, pushing ahead for a 16-6 lead.
With the second quarter came the fire in the form of Meadmore nee Sansom, holding tight in WD, forcing and taking multiple intercepts in the Hawks attack line.
Starting the second half with a healthy 14 goal lead, Handley's experience in centre was a reliable outlet down the court, from defensive turnovers to smart feeds into Bratton in GS.
Simonetti worked tirelessly in the third term, with multiple turnovers in GK and with the combo of Bratton and Millman in goals, the Magpies pushed out to a 47-28 goal lead.
The final quarter showed Thornley holding strong back in GK and Ritson working the defensive circle in WD.
The lightning speed of both Mia and Phoebe Pethybridge in the centre/wing attack combo extended the Maggies lead at a growth rate resembling the current Victorian COVID infections.
The final score, a convincing 61-39 win to the Magpies.
With the biggest challenge of the day being in Player-Coach Bratton's hands, selecting players each quarter from a plethora of high class dynamic netballers, it's an exciting start to the short 2020 season.
This weeks game on Saturday August 1 will see the Busselton Magpies host the Carey Park Panthers. League play at 12.15pm followed by the 18 & Unders at 1.45pm at the Geographe Leisure Centre.
