A SERIES of workshops teaching traditional methods of fire management will be held in the South West throughout May.
In a joint collaboration between the South West Catchments Council and the Undalup Association, the workshops will educate community members on how to reduce fire risk to local wildlife and enhance native bushland.
Wadandi/Pibulman Custodian Iszaac (Waalitj) Webb will run the workshops and explain how the traditional owners of the South West region undertake fire management to protect the region's threatened species.
Knowledge of best practice techniques including timing, frequency and location of burning will be passed on to local landholders.
Community members will also have an opportunity to watch a traditional burn take place.
