A record number of building approvals have been processed in the region, the highest number since 2015.
Last financial year, the City of Busselton approved an all time high of 2,212 building applications, up from 1,941 in 2014/15.
City of Busselton development services manager Lee Riddell said 727 of the building applications were for new dwellings valued at more than $310 million in construction, but could not provide any further information on where the applications were coming from.
Ms Riddell said there was still residential land available in a number of the existing estates within the region.
"The Western Australian Planning Commission is also currently considering a number of planning investigation areas with a view to ensuring adequate residential land supply is available in appropriate locations into the future," she said.
The State Government have also reported that a high number of people accessed its Keystart program in the last financial year.
The program provides Western Australians on low and middle incomes with an affordable pathway into home ownership, and has helped 118,000 households in WA since it was established in 1989.
Last financial year, Keystart helped 3,977 eligible households into home ownership, which was the highest number since 2009/1010.
Eighty per cent of those loans went to first home buyers.
Housing Minister John Carey said Western Australians on lower and middle incomes could face a serious challenge to get a foot on the property ladder and things like saving for a 20 per cent deposit were a major barrier.
"Last financial year we saw how important the scheme was, with Keystart assisting 3,977 Western Australian families into affordable home ownership, the most in more than a decade," he said.
"Eighty per cent of those people supported by Keystart in the last financial year were first home buyers and seventy-five per cent had one or more applicants that were renting.
"We saw around 2,900 people able to repay their loan or refinance and transition out of the Keystart scheme, which is a critical step in the home ownership journey."
The government has approved a $362 million increase to Keystart's borrowing limit which will enable it to take on an additional 2,700 loans in the coming year.
