Photos featuring her fiance David Sharaz and pet dog Kingston exploring cobblestone streets and landmarks were posted on Instagram and tagged in south-west France's Dordogne.
In the caption Ms Higgins quoted Jean-Paul Sartre's "nous sommes nos choix" which translates to "we are our choices".
"Here are a few of mine as of late," she wrote.
Ms Higgins and Mr Sharaz farewelled Australia on December 18, dressed in all white in a nod to the suffragette movement.
"No matter how far or how wide I roam, I still call Australia home," she said in a post at the time.
The couple left amid Bruce Lehrmann's defamation proceedings against Network 10 and journalist Lisa Wilkinson in the Federal Court.
Ms Higgins gave detailed testimony in court during the trial, which also revealed she was awarded $2.445 million in a settlement with the Commonwealth government.
The trial concluded before Christmas and a decision is yet to delivered by the judge.
Mr Lehrmann has denied allegations he raped Ms Higgins at Parliament House in Canberra while they were colleagues, working for former defence minister Senator Linda Reynolds.
No findings have been made against him.
His criminal trial was abandoned last October due to juror misconduct, with the charge levelled at him later discontinued over concerns for Ms Higgins' mental health.
