BUSSELTON mother Kate Badger has found a way to say thank you to the people who saved her child’s life.
With 13 weeks to go of her pregnancy, Mrs Badger was forced to go into premature labour.
She started at the Busselton hospital and had to be flown by the Royal Flying Doctor Service to King Edward Hospital in Perth.
Four days later her son Knox was born.
“The doctors said if it had been 60 seconds longer we could have lost him,” she said.
Knox was in hospital for 10 weeks before he was healthy enough to go home.
Mrs Badger said it was so easy for premature babies to get sick and she thought they were going to lose him again when he caught a cold at seven weeks.
Knox turned one in February and the doctors are impressed with his progress.
“His amazing, the doctors can’t believe how well he has grown,” Mrs Badger said.
Now Mrs Badger wants to give back to the people who helped her with a fundraiser on May 10.
The theme of the event is It’s Time to Hero Up at the Busselton Bowling Club.
Mrs Badger is asking for donations for a raffle with the money going towards the Royal Flying Doctor Service and Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation.
Tickets for teams of four is $100 with registrations due by May 1.
There will also be music, prizes for best dressed, auction and a sausage sizzle.
