The exhibition displays different techniques of glazing and firing.
To prepare pots for a glaze firing various coloured glaze combinations are applied to pots that have already been fired to 1000 degrees in a bid to find the right colour combination.
Pots are then packed into a gas-fired kiln.
Starting early in the morning, the gas pressure is gradually increased until the temperature inside the kiln reaches 1280-1300 degrees.
The heat matures the clay and the glaze forms a glass-like finish that makes the pots oven, microwave and dishwasher safe.
Firing the glaze takes up to 10 hours.
The kiln is then left for 36 hours to cool down before it is opened to reveal the results.
Opening the kiln is like Christmas, it’s always a surprise to see what comes out.
