THE Busselton Magpies secured the South West Football League minor premiership and knocked the Donnybrook Dons out of finals contention with a dominant win on Saturday night.
The Dons sat in fifth place ahead of the Harvey Bulls on percentage so they needed to produce a better result than the Bulls could against Carey Park.
Busselton were quick of the mark and showed their skills and fitness while Donnybrook continued to miss their star player Jeff Smith.
Busselton eased off the pressure in the final quarter to save their players from injury ahead of the finals and took out the game 19.13.127 to 11.5.71.
The boys now have a week off before they play the winner of Eaton and Carey Park on September 13 for spot in the 2015 grand final.
The Busselton reserves will face Eaton in a qualifying final at Hands Oval on Sunday after they defeated Donnybrook and finished the season in third place.
The boys were consistent all game and ran out 15.6.96 to 5.10.40 victors.
Busselton’s colts will also appear at Hands Oval on Sunday in a do-or-die clash against Carey Park.
The side easily accounted for a struggling Donnybrook to record their 12th win of the season.
The final score was 23.15.153 to 3.6.24.
Every Busselton side can be considered a strong chance heading into the finals series so be sure to get along and support the boys.
