A quiz night to rally the community will take the Busselton Bowling Club by storm on October 24 to raise funds for cancer research.
Russell and Sharon Biggs have announced their involvement with the international 2016 Sh**box Rally and to raise funds for their international trek, they are throwing a Rockqwiz for a fun night of fundraising and prizes.
For the past six years in Australia, Sh**box Rally has seen teams come together not only to raise money for the Cancer Council to help find a cure, but to embark on an adventure exploring the vast Australian landscape.
Next year teams will embark on the biggest adventure yet across the Tasman encouraging New Zealand neighbours to join the box rallies family.
Teams are aiming to raise $400,000 as Sh**box Rally NZ embarks on an arduous route of navigating middle earth.
The Briggs will be joining 150 participants on the week long drive around New Zealand’s north island, starting and finishing in Auckland.
Mr Briggs knows only too well the effects of cancer, having lost his mother to bowel cancer when he was just a teenager.
“We like to do things that are fun and a bit different. We see this is a great opportunity to support a great cause, embark on an adventure and see some great scenery,” he said.
“We have both lost people close to us to cancer; two of them were taken way too young. We want to make a difference.
“Wouldn’t it be great to one day say to our kids ‘In the old days, there was this dreadful disease called cancer?”
The pair aim to raise $5,000 towards their team Bare Grills.
