More than 30 members from Busselton’s Triathlon Club will take part in this weekend’s gruelling SunSmart Ironman event.

Seventeen members will brave the full distance and compete in the 226 km race consiting of a 3.8 kilometre swim around the Busselton Jetty, before taking on a 180 km bike ride then finishing with 42.2 km run.
Sixteen members will compete in the Ironman 70.3 which is a 190 km course beginning with a 1.9 km swim, 90 km bike ride and finishes with a 21.1 km run.
According to the Ironman WA website, the Busselton event has become world renowned for being the place to finish with a personal best time, with the bike and run courses being some of the flattest on the global circuit.
The Busselton event debuted on the Australian calendar in 2004.
