The Busselton Magpies finished fourth in the inaugural Brooke Fiore For Hair and Tanning South West Football League women’s pre-season carnival.
It was a tough competition with South Bunbury Tigers walking away undefeated and overall champions.
The Tigers started their day strong with a dominant game against the Harvey Bulls at Hands Oval, putting early scoreboard pressure on the undermanned team
The Tigers maintained their goal-kicking accuracy and strong marking inside forward 50 to seal the game 10.6 (66) to 1.1 (7).
Taking on Harvey-Brunswick-Leschenault in their next fixture, the Tigers backed up against the Lions, keeping them to just one goal in the game.
The final was played against South Bunbury and Bunbury who both went into the match with two wins.
The win didn’t come easy for the Tigers though, overcoming a scoreless first half to defeat the Bulldogs by 12 points.
Busselton’s day panned out a little differently with losing their first two matches against Harvey Brunswick Leschenault and Bunbury.
It was a close first game, only losing to HBL by eight points.
However it could be said the same for the second match with Bunbury keeping the Magpies scoreless for the whole game.
The final score was 0.0.(0) to 5.7.(37).
It was third time lucky for Busselton who finished the carnival with a win over Harvey Bulls.
The Magpies were tough against the Bulls and the final score was 0.0. (0) to 3.9.(27). Round one kicks off on Saturday April 15.
