Four Busselton Swimming Club juniors will don their state qualifier caps on April 13 when they travel to Perth to represent the club at the Hancock Prospecting Junior Long Course Championships.
The youngest member of the group, eight-year-old Jaz Currie, will tackle the 50-metre freestyle and his pet event the 100m breaststroke for which he has a top 10 ranking.
Keeping it in the family, sister Sienna Currie (11) will be taking on the best in the state for the second time in both the 50m and 100m freestyle, as well as the 50m backstroke.
While 10-year-old Max Gray will be busy with the 50m and 100m freestyle and backstroke events.
The veteran of the group Spencer Drummond (also 10), will have a busy schedule over the weekend with eight events. Spencer also has top 10 rankings in the 100m and 200m backstroke.
Coach Andrew Sexton says he is excited about the junior program at the club.
He said having four young swimmers qualify for states was fantastic and there were a number of juniors who narrowly missed the qualifying times who are on their way to achieving qualifying times.
