The Unofficial Dunsborough Jazz Club hopes to get people swinging when it presents the Local Vintage Jazz Quintet this Sunday.
The club was formed around 18 months ago after the quintet finished a season at the Wyndham Resort.
The group, made up of fabulous lead singer Melissa Tuoma, Mike Wiese on saxes, Sean Lillico on keyboards and vocals, Kevin McDonald on bass and guitar and Bob Boyne on drums, developed a dedicate following during their resort stint.
Jazz enthusiasts, Bob and Pip Jarvis along with Lynne Sheen got together with the band to form the club as a way to promote the Local Vintage Jazz Quintet and guest musicians performing at the Old Dunsborough Hall.
This year, an opportunity arose to relocate the jazz club to the Dunsborough and Districts Country Club every second month on Sunday afternoons for performances.
The club hopes to grow and invite jazz musicians from Perth and beyond for shows.
Drummer Bob Boyne encouraged newcomers to show their faces at the upcoming gig.
“It’s a very versatile repertoire, but based on a jazz theme. It is very easy listening,” he said.
”The entertainment and quality of music that Local Vintage performs is of a very high national and international standard and the vibe within the band is superbly balanced. It’s amazing that such talent has come from within our own local community.”
The show kicks off at 3.30pm. Tickets are $15 and available on the door or on trybooking.com.
