Disabled Surfers Association South West | Last session of the season at Bunker Bay

Light drizzle failed to dampen the enthusiasm of the surfers, carers and volunteers at the final event of the season for the Disabled Surfers Association South West on Saturday.

More than one hundred people attended for a fun day in the waves. The ocean was glassy smooth and the high tide sent a tiny wave into Bunker Bay.

While the drizzle eventually stopped, the temperature was quite warm and it turned out a very pleasant day.

Surfers travelled from Manjimup, Bunbury, Busselton and Margaret River, with president Ant Purcell reporting another successful year with a lot of new people involved.

Mr Purcell thanked the generous sponsors, Westpac, Motorfest, Taz’s Bakery, Dardanup Butchers, IGA Margaret River, Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse, HIF Health Fund, Vintagefest, Jeanswest and Karen Davies Christmas Lights.

Volunteer of the day award went to nine year old Dior Blackburn who raised $1000 at Our Lady of the Capes school in donations for the Disabled Surfers Association..

The annual general meeting will be held at Eagle Bay Brewery at 11am on Sunday, May 5. New committee members and helpers are always welcome.
