Students from throughout the region will rub shoulders with their author heroes at this week's Between the Lines Literature Festival.
The event, held from March 28 to 30, is a partnership between Dymocks Busselton and St Mary MacKillop College, who host the school events.
Ten schools will be participating in the festival, with March 28 a dedicated day for secondary students, and March 29 for primary students.
Dymocks Busselton owner Beth Herbert said it was a big three days and one of her favourite times of year.
"I am passionate about the power of books and about engaging children in the lifelong joy of reading," she said.
"This festival connects students with authors. It is such a powerful stimulus when children and teenagers are able to meet and discuss ideas with authors whose books they have read.
"The joy and excitement of the experience and the rich conversations that ensue cannot be under-estimated in the development of children's literacy and love of literature."
There are 12 authors attending the festival.
West Australian authors include Norman Jorgensen, James Foley, Gavin Aung Than,Frane Lessac, Kelly Canby, Mark Greenwood, Kate McCaffrey, AJ Betts, Jon Doust and Danny Parker.
Matt Ottley and Mark Smith, both renowned young adult writers, will be attending the festival thanks to sponsorship from the Lions Club of Busselton, Rotary Club of Busselton Geographe Bay and Writing WA.
Sidewalk Signings will act as the finale of the festival and all youth are invited to attend.
Five children's authors, Jorgenson, Foley, Parker, Aung Than and Canby, will line the entry of Dymocks Busselton to meet book lovers and sign their books.
The event is free and will be held on Saturday, March 30, from 10am to 11am.
