A severe weather warning has been issued for the Lower West, South West, South Coastal part including Collie.
Heavy rain and damaging winds are possible from this afternoon as a rain band and cold front move through.
Locations which may be affected include Albany, Bunbury, Busselton, Katanning, Mandurah, Manjimup, Margaret River, Mount Barker, Narrogin, Northam, Perth and Yanchep.
The system will bring the potential for heavy rainfall and potential hail extend to Perth and Albany around 5pm.
This is typical weather for this time of the year but heavy rain and winds may cause damage to property and make road conditions hazardous.
The Department of Fire and Emergency services has advised some roads mad be closed and travelers should take extra care on the roads and not to drive into water of unknown depth.
Residents can prepare for the severe weather by storing or weighing down loose objects such as outdoor furniture, ensure pets and animals are in a safe area and unplug electrical appliances and avoid using landline telephones if lightning occurs.
