Geographe Bay Football Club Division one team competed in the SWSA President's Cup in Dalyellup against Manjimup Rovers.
As usual Manjimup are the bogey team that grind, bully and frustrate the Geographe lads every time they play against each other.
Few good chances fell to Ben Polkinghorne and Euan McFadyen up front which usually end up in the back of the net, but early on in the game no such luck.
It took an own goal from a Manjimup defender to give Geographe the lead.
Manjimup showed a bit of fight and created a few good chances of there own in the first half.
The backline of Sean McSevich, the ever impressive Dene Williams and Brodie Hansford were solid with Tye Denton showing his big engine shutting down the majority of threats.
Cameron Woodcoe-Bryant in goals had to make a few more vital saves than he is used to, but never looked worried.
Juliano Ferminio did the business from midfield in the second half and created way more options with Luke Evans who monstered in all areas of the park nearly scoring and set up a class goal for the always cool skillful McFadyen to slot home a nice goal.
Geographe should have been cruising with a 2-0 lead but Manjimup never gave up and created a great cross and header to get it back to 2-1.
Jamie King had a belter of a second half and put in a great shift, he sent in some great crosses and won tackles all over the park. Riley Turner made a great debut and found his comfort in the second half.
Damian put in a great spell at left mid and surprised himself with the work rate both upfront and in the back line creating many outlets and opportunities to get forward.
Unfortunately with 10 minutes to go a silly clearance mistake between Cameron and Joseph Chapple (Joseph was having a great game until then) was pounced upon by a Manjimup forward to make it 2-2 and making a penalty shootout inevitable.
But to Geographe's credit and some belief they kept pushing and through Polkinghorne not giving up, chased down the Manjimup centre back and won the ball to slot home the third.
Then Geographe pressed for more and with one of the better goals of the day, Juliano won it in the middle, laid it off to Luke then to Euan who beat two defenders put it out wide for the pin point cross to be met by a pure strikers run to seal the win for GBFC.
Big shout out to RetraVision player of the day Luke Evans who looked a class above everyone, full Roy Keane performance.
A great President's Cup win for GBFC 4-2.
