There are five reasons you can leave your household.
- Obtain food and other goods locally
- For the purposes of work or education if it is not possible to do it at home
- Exercising locally
- Medical or caring reasons
- Obtaining a COVID-19 vaccination
For half the state, not a great deal is changing, except for when the lockdown is due to end.
Those regions expecting to leave lockdown this week will be required to join the rest of the state in lockdown orders until Saturday, August 21, 5pm.
Retail premises are required to close except for:
- Supermarkets and grocery shops.
- Shops that predominantly sell food or drinks (including butchers, bakeries, fruit shops and delicatessens, but does not include restaurants or cafes).
- Chemists and pharmacies.
- Kiosks.
- Shops that predominately sell office supplies, pet supplies, newspapers, magazines and stationery, alcohol, maternity and baby supplies, medical or pharmaceutical supplies.
- Food and drink premises, but only to sell takeaway.
- Cellar door premises, but only to sell takeaway.
- Hardware and building supplies.
- Landscaping material supplies.
- Rural supplies.
- Timber yards.
- Garden centres and plant nurseries.
- Vehicle hire premises, not including the premises at which vehicles are sold.
- Shops that predominately carry out mobile phone repairs.
Service stations, banks, post offices, laundromats and drycleaners can remain open.

It's also good to know the following:
- You can leave the house for a COVID-19 vaccination
- You can exercise in groups of two or fewer
- Medical care or compassionate leave
- Work if you cannot do so at home
- Schools are open for the children of essential workers
Masks must be worn indoors and in outdoor settings where you cannot socially distance (such as picking up takeaway)
Also from next week, people in greater Sydney will need a permit to travel to regional NSW while single people in affected LGAs will need to register their "single buddies".
Ms Berejiklian said people leaving their house for exercise had to be either actively exercising or supervising children.
