PASSION, tick. Vigorous training regime, tick. Supportive running partner, tick.
Two Busselton women are just days away from setting out on their long-term goal of running a marathon.
Fran McGuinness and Rose Williamson will make the journey to Perth for the Chevron City to Surf for the impressive 42km marathon on Sunday.
In the lead up to the event the women said they had been following the City to Surf’s training program and were feeling prepared.
From running in the early and late hours of the morning at the Jetty, Meelup bush trails and even the hilly Nannup countryside, the women said it had been tough but they had enjoyed every minute.
A passion for running was ignited in both women for personal reasons however after achieving 18 kilometres in Busselton’s inaugural Wings for Life World Run event they decided to aim for the marathon.
Mrs McGuinness said she began running to help with her wellbeing and it had since given her strength, enjoyment and the opportunity to see the beautiful South West.
Mrs Williamson said her goal had been to run a marathon before she turned 50, which was four months away.
“Hopefully I can inspire someone else that it's never too late achieve your dreams,” she said.
The women both said running together had been a lot of fun and would not have been as enjoyable without each-other’s encouragement and support.
