AFTER spending more than two decades learning and refining the art of wine making, Bruce Dukes has released his own brand.
Mr Dukes has developed Domaine Naturaliste with his first wine being 2013 Sauvage, Semillon Sauvignon Blanc.
The wine has already seen success since its release in July with the trophy for best sauvignon blanc memillon blend at the 2014 Royal Melbourne Wine Show.
Mr Dukes said he was ecstatic with the recognition.
He said it was not only great for his new brand but the whole Margaret River wine region.
Mr Dukes started with this wine style because it suited the maritime climate and soil of the area.
He said the blend of sauvignon with Semillon was greater than the some of its parts.
“It is unique because it is fermented and matured in 500 litre French oak puncheons for 10 months,” he said.
They also used the yeast from the outside of the grape as part of the fermentation process.
Mr Dukes said the development of the brand was a combination of 25 years in the industry and wanting to refine and understand what people want to drink in Margaret River.
With the success of his first wine, Mr Dukes hopes to grow into a sustainable business.
