The Bullets defeated Aces 82-71 with star forward Beau Chinnery racking up 20 points. Chinnery was well supported by shooting guard Todd Earle who finished with 17 points during the win, including five three-pointers.
East Perth footballer Damien Lee returned to the line-up after qualifying for finals to register 16 points, seemingly slotting right back into the team’s dynamic.
Busselton will now face second - place Bulls Maroon for a place in the grand final.
Bullets’ coach Paul Dugan said he was proud of the effort shown by his players.
Dugan said it was a solid team effort and his team was excited for the next challenge.
He said it was a close contest between the two teams but credited the Bullet’s resilience and will to outwork their opposition.
“It was a really tight game as I can recall,” Dugan said.
“To the guys credit we broke away late in the first half to hold a 12-point lead at half time.” Dugan said his team was “feeling good” heading Friday night’s preliminary final.
He said he was confident his team would give their best effort. “I have been very proud of this group’s effort all year long,” Dugan said.
“At the beginning of the year I thought we’d be competitive, but they’ve definitely surprised me. “When we can play our best we can beat anybody and with a bit of luck we’re a good chance.”
Dugan said this season had proved a major stepping stone for his younger players, especially upand-coming player Jalen Hoffman.
Busselton Bullets will play for a spot in the grand final this Friday night on court two at South West Sports Centre at 7.30pm.
Dugan said he and his team would love to see as many supporters at the game as possible
