BRAVE swimmers took on Busselton’s frosty waters this morning for the Sunsmart Busselton 70.3 Ironman event.
Spectators were wrapped in jumpers and scarves as they cheered on friends and family at the event.
As the morning went on the sun came out and provided perfect conditions for the bike and run leg.
Sam Appleton who came third last year was first in the men's to transition from the swim to the bike and was this year's ultimate winner with a time of 3:44:28.
Terenzo Bozzone was first to transition from the bike to run but shortly fell behind Appleton and came second with a time of 3:45:38.
James Cunnama was the third men's competitor to cross the line with a time of 3:47:40.
In the women's race it ended up being a great finish for Felicity Sheedy-Ryan who crossed the line first in 4:16:18.
Liz Blatchford held the lead throughout the race but lost her position to Sheedy-Ryan in the run. Blatchford finished in 4:18:40
Katey Gibb was third in the women's category with 4:19:18.
