The department carried out environmental restoration and track stabilisation for the track which was previously only accessed by 4WD.
Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park senior ranger Kane Goodwin said the iconic surfing spot had considerable damage to coastal vegetation.
“It was also creating a growing visual scar on the landscape,” he said.
While Parks and Wildlife generally does not undertake routine maintenance on 4WD tracks, works were necessary to stop further degradation of the area.
“By creating a trafficable alignment through the limestone we will be able to remove vehicle pressures off the damaged areas, allowing them to naturally rehabilitate,” Mr Goodwin said.
