Food Forage runs similarly to Gumtree and Ebay, in that you can list any type of food product or produce on the website for free, or buy items in your area by searching your specific postcode.
Creators Chantelle and Ben Fell said they came up with the idea as they were frustrated with the price and poor quality of produce in supermarkets.
“Ben was on Ebay and the thought came to him that we should create an Australia-wide website like Ebay or Gumtree, where everyone who had an abundance of fruit/veg from their garden, chickens from their backyard hens, a farm or a small food business, could place a free listing to buy/sell/swap their products with their local communities,” Ms Fell said.
“People could go to this one place to find amazing local food and produce around them.”
Ms Fell said she looked forward to seeing the site in action across the South West.
“How amazing would it be to have all small food businesses in the Margaret River region have their products listed on Food Forage, so that holiday makers like us could have a reference for the wonderful produce and products that the region has to offer?” she said.
“We want everyone to get on board so that we can all help support local small businesses, great Australian produce and grow togetherness in our communities.”
