The Salvation Army has partnered with Kmart once again for its annual Wishing Tree Appeal.
For more than 30 years the appeal asks people in the community who can afford to, buy a present and put it under Kmart's Christmas Tree.
The present will go to a child and or family who is doing it tough and cannot afford presents.
Salvation Army Bunbury and Busselton captain Mark Schatz said this year they were calling on people to donate presents aimed at older children and teenagers.
He said often that age group gets forgotten about but a present would still brighten up their day.
The theme for this year's appeal is 'small gift, big heart' and encourages people to give what they can, however big or small.
Captain Schatz said if you are a family that could afford to donate a present, it not only provides hope but it would teach children about kindness to others in the community.
While there are Kmart stores all across Australia, South West donations will go to South West families.
The Kmart Wishing Tree Appeal started on November 8 and finishes on December 24, with coin collections running through to the end of January 2022.
