The fully volunteer based organisation Disabled Surfing Association has been running for nearly 40 years.
This summer will mark Busselton's 15th season of offering disabled people a chance to surf in a safe and fun environment.
Association Busselton branch president Ant Purcell said it all began when two trailblazers from New South Wales founded the group.
"There are now 19 branches across Australia and New Zealand," he said.
Association volunteer Anna Foley said for the organisation to be running this long was amazing.
"No one is paid, it is all volunteer and we rely on sponsorship to help," she said.
Ms Foley said the aim of the organisation was to show that disabled people are ordinary people.
"You can see the volunteers get a sense of gratitude and for young ones to help out it gives them a sense what its like to help out the community," she said.
The age range of both volunteers and participants are from six year-olds to 75 year-olds.
The first event of the Disabled Surfing calendar is Saturday December 11 at Bunker Bay.
If you are interested in volunteering, you can just turn up, with set up starting at 7.30am and surfing starting at 9am.
Mr Purcell said volunteers didn't need to be super competent in the water, just a willingness to give it a go.
