Ladies Championship Fours
EIGHT teams nominated for the Advanced Hearing ladies Championship Fours completed on Thursday, November 17. Seven games of 14 ends over three weeks was a marathon for the 32 women playing, caused by inclement weather on one of the days. Close games among all the competitors was a feature of the competition.

Winner: June Beswick, Nancy Gordon, Linda Burgin and Lexie Harris. Runner-up: Jennie Bruce, Lesley Smirk, Corrie Van den Heuvel and Joan Bray. Third: Kerry Scott, Karen Gaglia, Sylvia Tillotson and Lesley Robinson.
Ladies Invitation Classic Fours
A VERY successful competition ran over the weekend of November 19-20 sponsored by Juniper, Member for Vasse, Libby Mettam, Albies Bar & Bistro and APIA, attracted 28 teams for the ladies Invitation Classic bowling event at the Busselton Bowling Club. Teams from Perth and Murray leagues joined Leeuwin and South West league players to enjoy some close encounters over five games of 14 ends. Some State players were among the contestants and some excellent bowling was witnessed by spectators. Catering convener Lesley Smirk and her many volunteers are to be congratulated on the quality of the meals served to the 112 players and the many volunteers it takes to run such an event. The greens were perfectly prepared and gained many accolades from the winners. All four winners came from the metropolitan area for the first time in a number of years. The club was celebrating 70 years since the foundation of the women's club and captain Shirley Reilly was present to cut the cake. Mrs Reilly started playing bowls in Yarloop in 1946 and is celebrating her 50th year of playing this year.
Winner: Lisa Featherby, Linda Warburton, Denise Kelly and Renate Coote. (Mosman Park) 15 points plus 44 shots. Runner-up: Angela Sharp, Margaret Anderson, Trish Klisc, Rose Woodhouse. ( Gosnells) 12 plus 49 shots. Third: Kaye Blackwell, Rinski Butcher, A. Dryson, Ruth Young. North Beach 12 points plus 34 shots. Fourth: Jill Kennedy, Julie Crameri, Madeline Wright, Kim Simms. (Dudley Park) 12 points plus 25 shots.
